Color Alchemy – Weekend Workshop
Unlock the Mysteries of Color
November 11 & 12, 10 AM- 4 PM
Color, painting’s most complicated and elusive element, will be explored and examined in this combination lecture, demonstration, and hands-on two-day workshop. Students will become adept at creating dynamic paintings while gaining a greater understanding of color: theory, interactions, placement in composition, vision, the effects of light, and cultural and psychological meanings. Students will explore color palettes, value, temperature, saturation, and intensity, nuances of color mixing, as well as valuable paint application techniques. Students will take away an enhanced working knowledge of color as well as handy reference materials. All painting students are encouraged to attend this class, from beginner to advanced. New challenges, concepts, and exercises will be available to the returning student. All students are encouraged to learn and explore at their own pace.
Color Alchemy Applied – Weekend Workshop
Apply the Mysteries of Color to your painting
November 18 & 19, 10 AM- 4 PM
Students will apply the color knowledge and techniques they acquired in Color Alchemy to a finished painting(s). Students will become adept at creating dynamic paintings while applying their greater understanding of color. This class will focus on color interactions, placement in composition, the effects of light, value, temperature, saturation, intensity, color palettes, nuances of color mixing, as well as valuable paint application techniques. All students are encouraged to learn and explore at their own pace. Note that students can work in the medium of their choice including oil, acrylic, casein, gouache, or watercolor. Please be sure to have the basic palette and any colors that you would like to master. See the detailed materials list. All painting students are encouraged to attend this class, from beginner to advanced. The prerequisite of Color Alchemy is strongly suggested but not required.

December 2, 10 AM- 4 PM
Every painter has at least one… that painting that just isn’t quite right. It may be salvageable…or not. Before you spend hours on the canvas trying to fix it, only to pitch it, bring your painting(s) to this one-day workshop. Jill will provide guidance while you discover secret ways to enhance and save your painting.
